ecobee4 Smart Thermostat with Built-in Alexa, Room Sensor Included

A smart thermostat connects to your home’s wireless network and can be controlled remotely from other connected devices. This means that you can adjust the settings using your smart phone, an iPad, a voice assistant, or computer. As a wheelchair user it gives me the ability to control the thermostat and spares our walls damage from reckless driving.

WiFi thermostats offer benefits for those with visual impairments as well. Many thermostats, like ecobee, have large digital displays that are designed to be seen from a distance, which is nice for anyone with low vision. You can even connect the thermostat to a voice assistant like Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant, and adjust the settings by voice so you don’t have to be able to see at all!

When paired with a voice assistant, smart thermostats are super helpful for just about everyone. As someone that struggles to regulate their body temperature and lacks the ability to get out of bed in the middle of the night, I really love this feature. There have been many nights that I have awoke feeling cold or hot and it has been so nice to just tell Alexa to adjust the thermostat accordingly.
