Depending on the size of lag bolts that you use you may not have any adjustment. Should you use thinner lag bolts you may have 1/8" of an inch of adjustment. In other words, you will have very little wiggle room. Measure three times and drill once.
can the strings be easily hidden?
Yes, they have magnetic tips that can be attached to the top of the frame to hide the strings completely.
Is this mount a single-piece unit or do you have to bolt it together?
The wall bracket comes in two pieces, and there are 12 phillips head screws supplied to screw it together. You can see some of them in the photo. Takes just a few minutes as long as you have the right screwdriver. Very easy.
Can you attach to wall studs on 24" centers rather than the normal 16" centers?
Monoprice should put the actual dimensions of the wall bracket in the listing. If they do I can't find it. I measured the width of the bracket as best I could now that it's on the wall and behind my TV and it is just over 24" wide so I think you could hit two studs 24" apart.
